On April 13, the Technical Council of the Mexican Institute of Social Security, through the press bulletin 191/202, released among others, the following legal and administrative instruments to facilitate the payment of social security contributions:

1. Payment agreement in installments regarding social security contributions, which may be covered by employers on an initial amount of 20% of the employer contribution and 100% of the worker contribution, the rest may be deferred up to a maximum of 48 months.

The established amount of payment in installments does not undergo any modification and since it is a payment received beyond the term established in law, annual inflation adjustments and surcharges will be generated.

The monthly interest rate ranges between 1.26% and 1.82%, depending on the term chosen (12, 24 and more than 24 months)

In addition, for the subscription of the aforementioned agreement, no guarantees will be required.

1. The Social Security Law establishes a discount of up to 7 days for absenteeism of the worker if the employment relationship subsists. During these days, the contribution corresponding to the Health and Maternity Insurance will be paid.

1. The period between March 31, 2020 and the date on which the Technical Council determines that the causes that originate this suspension ended (derived from the health emergency due to force majeure decreed by the Health Authority due to the epidemic of disease generated by the SARSCOV2 virus COVID-19-), will be defined as non-working days for the practice of proceedings, hearings, notifications or requirements.
